Thomas Johnson (CEO and Coach)

Thomas  Johnson (TJ) is an ambitious and determined young man who grew up in a household that enforced hard work and dedication. He was born in Monrovia, Liberia and went through the Liberian civil war at an early age and almost died a few times but God had bigger plans for his life. Due to his experience he definitely does not take life for granted!

He moved to New York at the early age of 6 and is the eldest of five siblings. TJ has always been the one to lead by example. He believes this is the best way to teach others. TJ received his B.S. at the State University of New York, where he studied Nutrition, Personal training and Expeditionary studies.

TJ has worked with a variety of individuals while being in the health and fitness industry. He also believes that a person’s lifestyle is heavily influenced by their habits and surroundings. So it’s important to recognize negative habits, correct them as early as possible and improve your surroundings in order to enable a healthy lifestyle. TJ lives by this very notion and encourages his team and clients to practice this, as well.

As the CEO of GetUpNGetFit LLC, TJ strives on helping clients achieve their health and fitness goals through coaching them on how to replace negative habits with positive habits, choosing foods that are nutrient dense for consumption, how to incorporate exercise into their lifestyle regiment safely and most effectively, moving and sitting with good postural alignment, maintaining a positive mindset and providing education and motivational support as they embark on their health and fitness journey.

Caleb  Christian (Coach)

Since I love helping others, and I possess a zeal for working out, it only made sense that I became a personal trainer. I started my career nine years ago at New York Sports Club. Then I left and spent five years at David Barton Gym, where I gained invaluable experience training eight to ten clients a day, of all ages and body types.

For the last few years I’ve been working with GetUpNGetFit, which is perfect for me, since it pairs a passion for fitness with compassion for people. GetUpNGetFit uses fitness as a gateway to improve other facets of one’s life, which is akin to my own story. That’s why I’m a Fitness Coach, instead of a Personal Trainer.

My main areas of focus are weight management, body fat reduction, losing weight, building lean muscle, improving strength, endurance, posture, and flexibility. Moreover, I use some mindfulness techniques to get clients to focus and engage more, which will inevitably lead to optimum results. Let’s get started.

He is a graduate of Plattsburgh State University with a degree in Fitness and Wellness Leadership, where he worked as a supervisor and personal trainer in the Fitness Center, and taught mobility as an instructor for the group exercise program. Ian has a hunger for improved performance. Whether in hitting PR’s or mastering new movements, hard work and consistency are two values he knows will translate into your progress and success. He believes that what you do in the gym should enhance your life outside of it. When he isn’t helping others to become greater versions of themselves, Ian enjoys reading, hiking, biking, and spending time outdoors. I started my fitness journey when I first moved to NYC. I joined Crunch gym and soon became addicted to taking their group fitness classes.  I was always in the gym and knew then that this was something I loved. I trained in boxing, pole dancing, spin classes. Anything that would make my body move I was hooked. I loved the way I felt after each work out and wanted something that would challenge me even more than what I was already doing.

That is when I began weight training for my first ever bikini competition for the WBFF. It was a great experience and I loved the whole process of being disciplined, working hard towards a goal and achieving it by getting on stage. I was able to walk away with 2nd place and received my pro card at my first show. My journey didn’t end there. I went on to compete in my first ever pro show and placed top 5 in the USA.

The competition was an eye opener and I knew I wanted to become a personal trainer/coach to help motivate others to live a healthy and balanced lifestyle. I believe in giving clients a program designed just for them but making it enjoyable. I want others to see that working out shouldn’t be a daunting task but a fun experience working towards accomplishing their goals of living a healthy lifestyle.

As a Coach for GetUpNGetFit , my main focus is to make sure that each client’s workout is effective, challenging, aligns with their goals, and making sure they are having a great experience.
